One trend for expecting mothers that is really starting to take off is aqua natal yoga. Just like it sounds, it is a form of yoga for pregnant women that takes place in the water. More specifically, it involves pool yoga.

Now pool exercise if often recommended for people with weight or strength issues or other personal health problems that prevent them from exercising like most other people do. Being in the water gives them more freedom of movement and creates a safe area for them to move around and work their entire body at once. The water is also soothing and relaxing, and it helps to reduce the strain and stress that often comes with regular exercises.

It works the same way for pregnant women, allowing them to work their entire body without being limited by their condition. They can enjoy a feeling of weightlessness in the water and move around in ways they normally couldn’t while outside the water. Any woman who has been seven or eight months pregnant can tell you how difficult it is get around. Every movement seems to require so much energy that it’s no wonder they are constantly tired at that stage. However, aqua natal yoga gives them some freedom and reduces the strain placed on them by their unborn child.

Doctors tell expecting mothers to get some exercise when they can. That exercise releases endorphins that benefit both the mother and the child. It helps to fight the harmful effect of obesity, diabetes and other health problems related to giving birth. Regular exercise is certainly recommended for pregnant women, but at a certain point, it can become very difficult for them to even attempt exercise.
